Joni Eareckson Tada has been an inspiration to me through the years. She has a 5 minute radio broadcast and she can say more in 5 minutes than a lot of people can in an hour. She is a quadriplegic who has been confined to a wheelchair for years since a diving accident when she was young. She’s also battled cancer in the last few years. If you think you face a challenge that is hard, just listen to her and how she trusts in God. It puts things in perspective for me. If you get up one morning and are feeling that you have it bad, just listen to her radio broadcast. Notice how upbeat and cheerful she is and you may fall on your knees and thank God for what He has given you.

Frank Ford’s website is a wealth of information about stringed instruments and features his great articles on repairing instruments. Frank is an experienced luthier who is willing to share his knowledge with the world. I highly respect him as a luthier. Frank writes about what he knows from experience, not what he read in some book. He’s a remarkably talented guy. I had the privilege of meeting him and watching him refret an old Martin guitar at Symposium 2000 in Nashville, TN. Be sure to check out all his stuff including www.frets.net and his blog. Also, he has some great articles in his home shop tech pages. He has enough information on his site to keep you busy reading it for weeks. It is like going to college for stringed instruments. Even if you just want to get a little information on keeping your stringed instrument in shape you will probably find the answer to your question on this site. I don’t know of anything around to compare with this website.

The Gibson Brothers have been around a long time. I just discovered them a few years ago. They have become my FAVORITE band. I really like their choice of material, their harmonies, their musicianship, the way they present themselves on stage, and their willingness to depart from the traditional bluegrass songs. All the members of this band are GREAT. The bass player is as solid as one could be. Their recordings are well-mixed and very tasteful. Their sound is unique to them. The brother harmony is great. Both the brothers are excellent musicians and songwriters. The fiddle player is as good as any I’ve heard. There is not a weak link in this band. I was alarmed a while back when I heard that their mandolin player was leaving the band. I thought they would never be able to replace him, but I was wrong. Their new mandolin player, Jesse Brock, is amazing to say the least. I hope to be able to see one of their live shows before I die. I plan to embed some of their YouTube Videos on this site. Look around on this site for them and I feel you won’t be disappointed if you like traditional music.

I first saw Mike Lavallee on TV several years ago. He was painting some of his designs on an automobile. Having a background in the automobile body shop industry, it caught my attention. It was amazing what he could do with an airbrush and a few simple pieces of plastic. He uses these pieces to define an edge on his designs and other that that it is his talent and imagination. One of the things he is famous for is his “True Fire”. A lot of people paint flames on cars but Mike’s “True Fire” is amazing. On one TV show he had painted these flames on a helicopter. When this helicopter was landing one evening, someone called the police and fire department and reported that it was on fire and crashing.
