Katie and The Moron Trio is the name of my single act. I use a DigiTech Vocalist Live 4 machine to generate harmonies and alternate voices for my shows. This machine can generate harmonies by analyzing the guitar chords produced by my acoustic guitar. Katie’s voice is my voice raised in pitch to sound like a girl. Moe’s voice is my voice lowered in pitch to sound like a deep bass voice. So, it is Katie, Moe, and Ron who make up Katie and the Moron Trio. We have enjoyed trying to entertain folks for the last few years. We have played at some local venues including the Snow Hill Bluegrass Jamboree, the Birchwood Opry, and a series of live shows at Harrison Bay Park a few years ago. We have a small group of “Moron Heads” who understand and like our kind of music. We perform occasionally at some nursing homes, assisted living complexes, and at some senior events at churches and area senior groups. Our show consists of my mix of traditional country type music with some humorous stuff mixed in. I include some of my original songs and other songs that I have rearranged to suit my taste. We always include some Gospel Songs in our performances. I do not call my music bluegrass but I’m often listed as bluegrass by these groups. I guess corny, slightly out of tune music is naturally called bluegrass. Here are some videos that are typical of what our band does. If you are interested in booking this band, you can contact Moe (he books the shows) at the following link: ronnienichols48@gmail.com
This video is a good introduction to our band.
This next video is a song I heard Aaron Wilborn sing on YouTube. I added a 3rd verse to it. It seems to irritate some cat lovers. It is just a joke. It seems that some folks can’t take a joke. I think someone would criticize me if I sang “The Old Rugged Cross”. It is increasingly hard to please folks nowadays.
This next video features a song I wrote. It is about a lady who plays a washtub bass.
Here is a song we do regularly. I found this song on the web and rearranged it and added some to it.
