Here is a picture of one of our latest curly maple turned boxes. These second generation boxes are a little larger in diameter than our original “Wee Box”.
Although it may appear from the ruler that this box is around 3 inches across, it is in reality only about 2-5/8 inches in diameter and around 1 inch tall. The box being closer to the lens than the ruler makes it look larger in the photos.
As you can see, we’ve added some brighter colors to the already beautiful curly maple.
Here is another shot of a blue one.
Here you can see the reflective quality of the finish on a blue one.
This green color might not appeal to everyone.
It is different to say the least. It highlights the curl pretty well and the lacquer finish enhances it too.
This one has a grey leather insert and the mirror in the top.
Here is one example of small jewelry items that can be stored in one of these boxes. It will only hold small items but you know they say “Good things often come in small packages.”
Here is a shot of the mirror. You will no doubt see a different image when you look into it.
You could store some of your pills in one.
You could use it for loose change or for that special coin or for that medal you won as a child or in Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. Some musicians like to store their guitar or banjo picks in these boxes. They are still small enough to fit in a pocket or purse.
Here is an example stained in a traditional brown color and finished with high gloss lacquer.
Here is one finished in a natural color.
A side shot showing the curl. These curls change from dark to light as the light hits them from a different angle. It appears to flip-flop from light to dark as it is turned.
