Here are some of the songs that I have recorded through the years. Some are my own and some are ones that I rearranged and made more suitable to me. I’ve never done these other people’s songs commercially and did not get their permission to make changes in them. Singing or recording these songs is strictly for fun and not for money. My versions of these songs were all recorded at my home on a digital multi track recorder. Some songs are enhanced by the DigiTech Vocalist Live 4 Machine. As you can no doubt tell, I didn’t use the pitch correction feature.
This first one is one I wrote about growing up in the Duncan Park community near Chattanooga. My brother, Paul, passed away in September, 2013 and this song is more precious now to me than ever.
1803 Vero Beach
Here is another song about my earlier years. We moved to another place when I was around 15 years old. We lived in a little trailer in the junk yard behind my father’s body shop.
Raised In A Junk Yard
This song was written one day after mowing my grass.
The Dog Doo Song
Here is a song I wrote after my father’s death. He suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and my wife and I took care of him in his last years.
Taking Daddy Fishing
This song was inspired by some advice and old sayings that I heard through the years.
Advice
Here is a song that I wrote about a pickup truck.
My Chevrolet Truck
This is one of my humorous songs I wrote a while back. It has managed to make a lot of banjo pickers mad. The truth hurts, doesn’t it?
Banjer Picker In My Ear
I wrote this song after hearing a lady playing a washtub bass on TV one evening.
Abigail Greenfield
This is another song I wrote. It was inspired by my years as an auto damage appraiser. It seemed that people who owned a ragged old car always told me that they wouldn’t be afraid to start out for California in it.
Ebay Motors Blues
Here is a song I wrote about my Savior.
I Know The One
I wrote this song about an old rocking chair that was passed down through my family. It is the most comfortable rocking chair I have ever sat in. I’m sure it is near 100 years old or older. Here is a picture of it.
Grandma’s Rocking Chair
I wrote this song about some of my experiences playing in nursing homes and Alzheimer’s Units.
Granny Soiled Herself (While I Sang Amazing Grace)
This is a song I took some liberties with. It is about a dog named Jim who had a problem.
Ol’ Jim
Here is a song that was written by Sheb Wooley. The VW Boys recorded it a few years ago. I changed it around to suit my taste and recorded it a while back. I sing it at times in my live shows.
I Just Don’t Look Good Naked Anymore
Here is a song that was written by Harl Baggett of Tallapoosa, GA. I rearranged it slightly and added a word or two.
A Stone’s Throw Away
Here is another Harl Baggett composition about a war of a century and a half ago. Two of my ancestors were killed fighting in that war.
Rebel To The Bone
Here is another Harl Baggett song. This one has a lot of feeling and paints a picture in my mind.
The Old Rock Chimney
I found this song on the web a few years ago. This is my version of this song after I rearranged it and added some words.
12 Inch Fan
Here is my version of a song that has been recorded by a lot of folks. I don’t know who wrote it.
The Rose
Here is my interpretation of a Tom T. Hall song.
Don’t Forget The Coffee, Billie Joe
Here is my version of one I heard Larry Sparks sing.
Hand In Hand
This is a song I learned from a Gibson Brothers album. I think they said it was written by Chris Knight. It is not your typical bluegrass number.
If I Were You
Here is my version of a John Denver Song.
Back Home Again
Here is my version of a song I heard Ricky Skaggs do. I modernized it slightly.
The Date
Here is my version of a song I heard The Gibson Brothers do.
Walking West To Memphis
My version of a song I heard by Marshal Wilborn.
Seventeen Cents
Here is my version of a Randall Hylton Song. I added a third verse to it.
32 Acres Of Bottom Land
Here is another Randall Hylton song that I revised .
Roscoe Thompson’s 50 GMC
Here is my version of a song that was written and made popular by the Easter Brothers.
